Our very own Richard Wassersug might be able to answer you. He is a long-time user of estradiol [E2] & was a co-author of one of the PATCH papers (2017):

"Quality-of-life outcomes from the Prostate Adenocarcinoma: TransCutaneous Hormones (PATCH) trial evaluating luteinising hormone-releasing hormone agonists versus transdermal oestradiol for androgen suppression in advanced prostate cancer."

Patrick has invited me to reply.

I tested out a couple of different estradiol patch products about 16 years ago, but not specifically FemSevern. I did not notice any real differences among the ones I tested. However I went over to using the gel product, estrogel. I have found it to be easier to manage and have been using it now for a decade and a half.

I don't know if that is much help, but if you want more information on using transdermal estradiol to control PSA, feel free to email me directly.

And do the patches help with PC. What impact does this have on PSA and the spread of the cancer? Sorry but have not heard of this before.

Thanks

Hi Richard, hope you are still ok.

Have only just started this patch trial 2weeks ago. PSA at June 12th was 30 so

my next check up is another 2weeks away. Think patch are to reduce my

testosterone ! in preparation for a course of chemotherapy.

Will let you know how or what my next

procedure will be, as soon as i hear.

Take care. Alan.

Alan,

Just a cautionary note....If you are candidate for chemotherapy, it might be because your cancer is now "castrate resistant". If you have been on an LHRH drugs like Lupron (=Lucrin) or Degarelix, and they no longer control your PSA, then high dose transdermal estradiol may also not be effective in providing PSA control. So far we do not have data to suggest that transdermal estradiol provides better PSA control than the standard ADT drugs. It may though be cheaper and provide better quality of life (noting that it does cause gynecomastia).

I’m doing my own trial using patches by Sandoz. estradiol is generic and natural so the brand shouldn’t matter. See my profile. Great results.
