PSA LEVELS
Hi Paul
Many of the guys here will be helpful to you, in many ways. You now have all of us as your new brothers.
Your first step is to get a second opinion on your biopsy. You can find the steps to take for that, here: malecare.org/second-opinion...
If you do not live in the USA, you can get your primary consultant or doctor to help you locate a well regarded pathology department and have your biopsy slides sent there. Reading a biopsy is an art, and some pathology reports are written by recent graduates who - no doubt - mean well but simply have yet to develop the set of eyes that highly regarded pathologists have.
Your biopsy report (eg Gleason Score) forms a big basis for your treatment choice making, so, you want to feel sure that you are working with good information from the get-go.
What is your age and gleason score?
If your Gleason score was 6 it's slow growing. If it's 7 it's more aggressive. It's all by the numbers not mild cancer. If it's a 7 you might want to check into different treatments. The Cyberjnife radiation is a new thing the last ten years or so. Very good results and few after effects. It's a pinpoint radiation treatment. Four days of treatments about an hour each. You just lay on a table and a machine goes around you zapping from different angles. Good luck.
