Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you are doing ok, so far, in light of a Gleason 9. There's a pretty good website regarding advanced stage prostate cancer at advancedprostatecancer.net Hope that is helpful and thank you for joining our community in its very early stages

Gleason score was 6 had radical prostectomy 9 years ago. Came back where prostate was. 3 1/2 years ago. Then 40 radiation treatments. Then the damn cancer moved to four spots in my bones so I have been doing hormone treatment for three years. Now that treatment is not working. Immuno Therapy with be stating soon. I am 61 and very happily married. Funny we have never been happier. Through all of this we are having as much fun as we can. I try to not let cancer control my life. I stay busy, go to the gym, travel and work around the house. Never give up, never quit, we are in this to win.

I'm new (an early "follower" supporting the movement!).

2008 Diagnosed at age 55; PSA 8.5 led to prostate biopsy: cancer in 16/18 samples. Gleason estimated 8-10. Decided on Robotically-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALRP) w/ lymph node dissection; Diagnosis Stage III prostate cancer; T3b - Tumor (70% of prostate) with positive margins into seminal vesicles. GS 10. Lymph node: negative. PSA undetectable for a year.

2009 at age 56, had Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT); 200 rads x 37 treatments. PSA undetectable for three years.

2012 at age 60: PSA reappeared measurable and rising slowly. Regularly monitored and tried non-invasive clinical trial: Phase II clinical trial Muscadine Plus (MPX) grape skin extract. Two years go by.

Dec 2014 at age 62 CT w/ contrast abdomen & pelvis identified suspicious soft tissue 1.2 cm bladder thickening; PSA at 3.91 Fine needle biopsy of bladder wall positive for prostate cancer. This new diagnosis thus: Stage IV: T4, N0. Rx: Continuous androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) Casodex and Eligard.

Jan 2015 Began Clinical Trial S1216 Phase III Randomized Trial in Arm 2: Eligard 22.5mg 3-month shot and Casodex (Bicalutamide) daily pill continuous combined ADT.

Feb 2015: PSA: 0.572

Mar 2015: PSA: < 0.064

Jan 2016at age 63: CT w/ contrast chest, abdomen & pelvis showed resolution of thickening in bladder wall since Dec 2014. PSA: <0.1

Symptoms & side effects:

Erectile disfunction since surgery in 2008, but still have orgasms.

Have worn shield pads since radiation in 2009 - one/two a day.

Continuous ADT side effect hot flashes since Jan 2015 but are tolerable with Effexor 37.5mg every other day.

Hello all, I am Jon and I have just joined this community. Glad to have a place where I can share experiences and also learn about others. I will not hold anything back so if you have any questions I will be honest with my experiences. I live in California and I am currently in treatment for my prostate cancer. I have advanced very aggressive prostate cancer and I am terrified, but I keep a positive outlook.
