Greetings,

My name is MrOwl. I was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)/Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) during my earlier years. However, upon reaching the age of 18, my family's government insurance coverage lapsed, leaving me without access to continued treatment or support.

In the years since, I endeavored to navigate life without professional intervention, believing I had acquired the necessary skills to manage my condition independently. Regrettably, I now recognize that this self-reliance merely facilitated the concealment of my struggles rather than their resolution.

Presently at the age of 30, I find myself caught in a downward spiral, grappling with the unmitigated effects of ADHD on various aspects of my life. This realization has prompted me to seek guidance and connection with individuals who share similar experiences.

I am earnestly seeking resources, support, and the wisdom of those who have traversed similar paths. Engaging with a community of like-minded individuals and accessing professional guidance represents a pivotal step in my journey towards reclaiming stability and well-being.

If you have insights, recommendations, or simply a willingness to lend an empathetic ear, I would be immensely grateful for your assistance.

Thank you for considering my request.

Sincerely,

MrOwl

Welcome to the forum MrOwl

We have a pretty good community here. I've joined a few (listed in my bio), but I come here almost every day because I think it's a very good peer support group.

Welcome! This peer support group is very helpful to me in a number of ways.

First, belonging and understanding. AdHD caused me to be an outsider most of my life, as I wasn't diagnosed until age 54. Finding a name for it, and a group who understand, has been so affirming!

Second, whenever I have a specific issue, such as time blindness, I can come here to ask what techniques have helped others work with it. I've learned there are apps and tools available that I didn't even know existed.

Lastly, I've found that I might be able to help others with something I've been able to manage that's problematic for most of us.

Knowing you are not alone is the key to managing our condition, as well as understanding that we are not broken, just different.
