Ritalin Long Acting vs Immediate Release

Hi All,

I tried switching to LA Ritalin (20mg).

I noticed that LA makes me a bit more slow and sluggish Although does last longer. It's like random waves and unpredictable. Although it lasts longer.

Short acting makes me more energetic and lively. Like short burst of energy.

Also my mood seems better with Short acting. I'm not sure if I'm overthinking or something? Or maybe last few days due to natural reasons I have been feeling a bit tired and not in a lively mood. It's only been a week though.

What are your thoughts? Any experiences? Should they be feeling exactly the same?

Trust yourself and keep monitoring and noticing.

Yes, I have been on short term Ritalin in the past 2 or so years, and I do like it better than Concerta--but I'm not so sure ... I THINK it's more energetic for me.

But the deal is: trust yourself! And speak to your provider. And keep asking for treatment that you think works best!

There is no real pattern on these meds. Some will report your effects--others the opposite. Others can't tell the difference. YOU want to tune into your own thinking here and again, talk to your provider!

That's a great point I think it does come down to gut feeling and also want makes us feel more like ourselves or a better version. I will definitely have this conversation and might switch back. Cause short acting made me feel more happy or normal and this makes me feel numb
