medical leave at work

I am in my 40s, and have recently been diagnosed with ADHD symptoms and also depression. I got to a point where I am pretty much unable to work at all and my doctor recommended me to go on a short term medical leave . I am wondering if anybody has been approved for leave or it’s very hard ?

I have been working at my company for 11 years now ( large pharma )

Also, anybody was able to switch roles and has any advice with wether to disclose medical state to hr or not . ( medical leave is approved by outside company contractor , not our hr )

thank you

I work in education and always disclose to HR… but there is no third party there. Wish I could help.

There is something called FMLA- family and medical leave act- especially if your dotor is recommending you take some time, you should have no problem. Your doctor has to give you the papers to give to your employer- or HR has the papers and your doc has to sign off on it.

FMLA will protect you and your job. Under HIPPA you are protected so your supervisors don't have to know your diagnosis. 😉
