ADHD Weekly -- Drivers with ADHD Can Get Caught in DUI Laws
This is really scary. Especially as a black person who is more likely to get pulled over and not believed by the officer or court. How is it even possible to avoid being on the medication while driving? The medication stays in your system.
As more and more people realize they have ADHD and start getting treated, this is going to be a major problem. Hopefully governments will respond and it won’t be a case by case basis.
I saw that Canada is thinking about forcing people with ADHD to be on medication if they drive. I think that is a pretty scary prospect too. I hope to never be forced to be medicated to go about my life. I’m 50 and have done fine without this diagnosis. But I am going through treatment to see if things can be better—if not I hope to still have the choice to stop treatment if I decide to.
I hate to think that the government controls my medical choices. It is my body and my life.
