Welcome to the forum.
Changes in diagnosis and medication can be difficult to deal with.
It's very common for someone who has ADHD to also have one or more other neurological conditions, termed "comorbidities". So, it is actually possible that you have both bipolar disorder and ADHD.
If the medication you were taking for bipolar disorder seemed to be working, but changing to an ADHD medication seems to make things worse, then definitely inform your doctor if this.
There is usually an adjustment period for any medication, and ADHD medication is no exception. So what you are experiencing may be temporary, as your body is adjusting to the new medication (and adjusting to the lack of the old medication).
My own comorbidities are ADHD and anxiety. And I'm my case, stimulant medication wasn't the best treatment, so I am now on a non-stimulant ADHD medication which works better for me. It took about 6 months of working with my doctor to get onto the best meds for me. Some people may be lucky enough to get the right one at the start, while others can go though several different medications and dosages over a few years to find what works best.
Keep your doctor updated on any problems that you experience with your medication.
I hope that it works out quickly for you.
Hi! When I started both my antidepressant and my stimulant medication I had a short period of side effects that passed, including feeling kind of wired. If you feel really off, though, you should definitely check back in with your provider right away. The type of medication, the dose and the timing can have really different effects on different people. There’s quite a bit of trial and error involved so don’t be afraid to go back to your provider and tell them how you’re feeling.
