Hello friends, I’m new here. Diagnosed with ADHD at age 24 and again definitively at 47 - symptomatic forever, though. Medicated with Ritalin, which definitely helps, but hasn’t been the best thing for my high blood pressure.

But anyway, I’m in Pittsburgh, PA, rescue dogs, and always happy to make new friends!

Your PCP can prescribe medication for high blood pressure.

Is the high blood pressure medication working ?

More or less. Ritalin raises my blood pressure despite the meds, but I’m still at the point where the benefits outweigh the bad.

I want to mention something for the future. The FDA has made pharmaceutical companies put warning on stimulants for those 65 and older as well as those with certain health conditions like cardiovascular problems. The warning state stimulants can cause sudden death in patients that take them.

I have a friend is 68. She has been taking Adderall for over 25 yrs. A few weeks ago her doctor suddenly stopped prescribing her Adderall due to her age. She has Medicare. Medicare sends notices to doctors when they prescribe medications that could be or are dangerous for those 65 and older. Several chain pharmacies stores also send notices to providers for the same reasons. The fact you take medication for high blood pressure and a stimulant will flag you. Just thought you should know so you can be prepared when you get older. Actually, the fact you have high blood pressure and take stimulants could flag you now with your pharmacy. In addition, it is common for Medicaid and private insurance to follow Medicare guidelines.. But hopefully it won't.

Ugh, good grief. I have 16+ years to that point, but hopefully I’ll be off the BP meds by then.
