Wondering About Options to Concerta

Hi-I am new here and not really sure what to post. I've been on concerta but I feel like it makes me really tired and does not help at all with my symptoms. Any suggestions on how to address or what to do?

You have to try out meds for a good month or two. Your brain in the first few weeks is just getting adjusted to the medication. And if you want to be really helpful to yourself, write down the times you get sleepy and all of that ... The best thing we can do for medication management is to report SUPER SPECIFIC detailed descriptions of how the med affects us to our providers. If we just come in and vaguely say, "it makes me tired" the provider will be clueless as to how to respond.

Makes you tired when? For how long? What time of day? To what degree? To the point of sleeping? Or the point of feelingy sleep? Or just feeling oddly calm? And compared to what? Did you ever get tired before taking the med?

How long after taking the medication does it make you sleepy? What's your sleep like in general? Are you getting enough rest?

What do you do when you feel really tired? I ask this question because I once thought that a medication wasn't having an effect on me ... I was still procrastinating, but I was able to read books like I had never read books before.

But take notes for a month or so ... and then report the effects to your provider ... and the provider will then make an adjustment ... higher or lower dose ... time of day and so on ... sometimes the provider will recommend a new med.

Meds are not magic. Medication is a journey that takes time to figure out what works for us.
