Concerta - photosensitive

Hey,

I was diagnosed with adhd/add when I was still in primary school or even younger (I don’t remember) and I take medication since I was 11.

I always took medikinet. In December 2020 I tried using concerta because it works longer.

Did anyone else started being photosensitive after taking concerta?

I don’t know if it’s connected to concerta but it started around the time that I was taking it

Anne

Believe it or not concerta is not the same as instant ritalin etc brand name here. The methylphenidate is more of a paste based formulation than a salt based instant tablet is.Any adhd doctor who tells you it is the same hasn't done there research. But it is same chemical make up.

But it needs to be made that way due to how the brown bead inside it works for slow release. The only salt based part is the outside shell which gives instant release apon swallowing it.

You would be the first to say they have problems with light being on concerta.

I would ask for ritalin la or the posters above medikenict sorry about the spelling from my experience they won't last as long as the concerta but should still last around 6-8 hours per dose per capsule so may have to take 2 doses per day or a long action one and an instant to top you up during evenings.

All the best to you

ADHD is strongly associated with sensory sensitivities as well. My family is packed with sensitivities! Different medication impact my sensitivities differently. Some medications blunt my senses too much, some just right, and some, don’t dull them at all. For me, dulling my acute senses is a good thing.

Is it possible your previous medication controlled your sensitives better and this medication does not?

Hope this helps.
