Emotional Dysregulation

I am 22 years old, female, and was just diagnosed with ADHD. I have found that regulating my emotions is the hardest part of it. Any tips/suggestions/supplements that you have found help? One minute I am find, the next I am the devil. I have these explosive outbursts that normally only last 20 minutes, but it has impacted my relationships and I need to learn how to control this type of behaviour.

Hi! You described pretty much what I have gone through. I was told it was PMDD...yay for being female..by a psychiatrist who gave me Effexor to help with everything (PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, depression) . It helped yes; however, it numbed me out too much. The emotions went away yet I didn't feel anything instead of feeling everything. After a med change, I was able to feel again. The med change wasn't the only change. I changed birth control and hormonal medicines, and had surgery to remove endometriosis -- which we think "aided" some of the emotional bit. After all that, I think maybe a low dose of something can help you. I also spoke with my therapist about it to help regulate my emotions. Maybe something along those lines can help you, even if it's just therapy?
