Anyone else find it hard to get back to texts?

I hate texting...
I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do this forum. I like you guys, and part of me just wants to hang out, and I keep checking back for updates and replies and pm.s and what-not ... but the other part of me is so damn easily overwhelmed, I know I have to figure out how to put boundaries around it. I actually have the daily digest coming to a different e-mail address, that is set up not to give me notifications on my phone, so it's not sitting there pulling me down the rabbit hole as soon as I wake up every morning. Still....
So yeah, just thinking out loud here because I think it's related to your issue ... maybe set a time of day to look at your texts and reply? And let people know that you are not going to be constantly checking and responding in the moment? And then set it up on your phone so you don't get notifications for incoming texts, you have to go in and actually look at the app. I mean, you can set as many times a day as you want, it could be once a day or once every hour, but just so you can forget about it in between times and your brain isn't constantly scanning for it. It's a serious distraction!
Absolutely. Personally I feel I "should" be able to respond to texts when I choose to. The other person could have actually called if they have a more immediate need. If you issue is "how soon do I need to respond" then perhaps try mentioning this to the other person, although I realize a LOT of people disagree with my outlook. You don't mention your age, but I think those of us who did not grow up with texting have a different outlook on it than those who have had it available most of their lives.
But setting parameters, like Happyhermit said, is a great idea.
