15XR adderall/15mgIR

Hi. So i am now on 15mgXR and 15mgIR in the afternoon. I really feel like i need a 20mgXR in the a.m and 20IR in the afternoon. I get 4-5hrs of XR before needing a booster. I feel guilty about it when i bring it up to my dr. She doesn't want to put me on more than 40mgs a day. Which is fine, however all together i am on 30mg. 15xr in the morning and 15IR for afternoon.

How can i approach her about just putting me on 20XR in the am and 20IR in the afternoon ?

I would recommend upping one at a time. Try the increased dose of the XR first.

My physician actually started me on Adderall XR in the am only. She had my keep a detailed log while I was increasing my dose every 4 days. We landed on 20mg and tried that for a month or so. Because it was wearing off around 3pm-4pm (and that's when I NEED to be functional) she started me on Adderall IR to take in the afternoon to "get me through" dinner and my 1yr old's bedtime. She had me start with 5mg, then up it every 4 days (max of 15mg). I discovered that on the days that I had to go to work in the evening or HAD to be productive then I need 15mg of IR, but the other days I just need 10mg. The best way to get your physician on board with dosing changes is to keep track of when you took it, when you noticed it "wore off", the changes in your symptoms (better, worse, no change), etc. I have seen that some people take an IR stimulant 3 times per day because that worked better for them than an XR with IR.

I am now taking 20mg XR in the morning (around 9am) and 15mg IR in the afternoon (around 2pm).
