Morning

Hi, good morning. I am still not sure if I am posting my comments in the right forum sometimes, but I digress. It seems like I have this inertia built into my thoughts where I don't get all my important stuff done. It should be noted that I am not on my medication any more. Side effects caused me to cease them. I just gave up trying to find the correct medication ( this was approximately 2 years ago) . I bought the book: Thriving with Adult Adhd and I read it back in August. I'm trying to stay positive. Thanks

I have found that I operate best when I have a to-do list and a schedule. I have a huge to do list, broken down into many categories. Whenever something occurs to me, I put it on a list. I follow most of the principles of Getting Things Done (GTD). Each morning, I go through the list (I use Things 3 for iOS and Mac) then plan what I want to get done that day. I then schedule the day in an Evernote template all the way to bedtime, putting in both meetings/appointments and tasks I want to accomplish. While it takes an extra hour each morning, I find that I stay more focused throughout the day. Putting each task into a time box helps maintain urgency so that I don’t look back on the day and realize that I accomplished nothing.

I am playing catch up with filing. I finally have a room to spread out after twin beds were removed and I added shelves and tables. I work part-time and if I worked full-time, what I have accomplished would have been impossible. I have been so ashamed of my large collection of stuff/junk room. Someone got mad at me for bringing too much to a holiday gathering at church. A month later, the threat of over-night visitors and a bed collapse, caused me to focus on my problem. I never had space to have a place for everything and everything to have a home, so it was basically stored and lost and not labeled. It is tedious and the worst part is the small stuff mixed in. I collect information. I need it filed properly so I can use it. I also have to keep the rest of the house clean and laundry done and keep a young dog exercised. I guess I need to stop some of the stuff from accumulating in the first place...but that is another rant. I better get back to it. Oh, wonder if you get more sunshine than I do because it is very dark today, which is why I am on the computer and not doing more filing.
