My advice to you is to just go to a new doctor, tell them your history and show them your old prescriptions. You don’t have to explain why you changed doctors. Start fresh and let them know you need your ADHD medication in order to function. It may even be more beneficial for you to be seen by a psychiatrist because general doctors usually give a hard time when prescribing anything that is considered a narcotic.

I'm sorry this happened to you, such ignorance and unprofessionalism. I am 67 with ADHD and severe RSD and found that doctors don't care about you after menopause!

This is the first time I have found someone my age with ADHD. I am going to tl you something that will freak you out. When I was 40 I was in a bad car accident. I was coming home from from hospital. I had a friend driving me. I was sick for surgery had my seatbelts off. Well the next thing you know I was on the hood of her car. A man ran the red light and rear ended us a 50mph and my cast was on the back seat. At 40 years old it caused me to go into instant menopause. I ended up with RSD so bad thru my whole body my children were just babies I couldn't hold them and they couldn't touch me. It took 3yrs before I could stand anyone touching. And painmanahement doctor in delaware will not perscribe anything for pai. That's my next adventure I'm bound and determined to find a doctor to help me. I hope this story tells you that I feel your pain to. And hope what do tors keep telling me is that it will burn itself out. Everytime my pain doctor say that I laugh in his face. I wish I could touch him and give him some of my pain. After that doctors visit he handed me a script for seven pills and said wean yourself off with those 7 pills. It took everything I could not to knock him out. Thank you for responding to my text. I feel your pain.

What horrible doctors!! Call your ins co to ask them to find someone for you - they all have a patient assist to do that!!

I am old enough for Medicare. I left Kaiser Jan 1 for United Healthcare because at Kaiser they thought that stimulants were being over prescribed and would only fill half my dose. I made an appt with my prev dr and they just called to say they don't take Medicare - so now I have to call the advisor at UHC to find someone who treats adults and is taking new patients!

Well that is just unacceptable and is a crappy way to treat someone who has been a patient for a long time. Shame on him for being so lazy and disrespectful.

Find another doctor and I would consider writing a letter of complaint to the state. Even if the state doesn't find anything wrong, he might think twice about shirking his job again. I am sick and tired of so called "professionals" acting in a manner that would have most of us regular folk either in trouble with the boss or fired.

Have you ever considered a suboxone clinic? My story is very similar to yours ie. Chronic pain, severe depression, anxiety, adult add. Family doc. Always prescribed all my meds until cutting me off found it impossible to find a dr. Willing to prescribe the meds that worked for me. Ended up going to a suboxone clinic and my life has changed 100% for the better. #1 suboxone is itself a strong pain med = off the opiate rollercoaster & pain managed. #2 got the mental health treatment I desperately needed ie, add meds, anti depressants, & social support. I finally feel stable, safe, and free from the fear of being cut off and dealing with new dr.s. don't get me wrong I'm not implying you are an addict. I just think that this may be a way for you to get what you need to start really living again. I went years not getting out of bed so I do understand. This is what gave me my life back and gave my family their wife and mother back! I would be happy to tell you more or answer any questions if you have any interest. Good luck. Gaebelmarcie@gmail.Com

Suboxone saved my life! Due to 7 car accidents (pretty sure my ADHD inattentiveness had something to do with this), I was given an endless supply of any pain medicine that each doctor decided would be best. I found an incredible GP who caught my cardiomyopathy, eased me off opiates using suboxone, yes I have some pain but with a lot of work, I've learned to live with it. I've had 3 heart surgeries and was able to get through them without opiates. Now, unfortunately, I have to talk to either her or my Psychiatrist about ADHD medicine without sounding like I'm med seeking and really would prefer a medication without amphetamines. But, yes since your doctor sounds unhelpful find the local Suboxone clinic. They usually know exactly what to do!
