Strattera and missing a dose

I wondered if anyone has had the experience of missing a dose of Strattera and feeling utterly exhausted mentally and physically the next day? I'm 52 and take 25 mg twice a day. From time to time I'll forget to take the evening dose and I'm starting to notice an alarming lack of energy the next day when this happens. I think one of the hallmarks of my ADD is my tendency to gravitate to periods of rest. I teach during the year and, though I could really stand to get some planning done during my summers, I just want to kick back and let my mind rest. It's hard, as my wife, who feels the need to manage me, in addition to our older son with ADD, anxiety and depression, often notices my inactivity and says something like: "don't you have work you could be doing?" I'd like to be energized and motivated to do more with my summers, but today was a real struggle to get out of my armchair and deal with household chores, errands and preparing meals, etc.

Probably way more information than I needed to give, but I'm wanting to find out if anyone else taking Strattera has had this experience.

Be well, everyone.

Yes, I am able to relate to your experience. I started taking Strattera earlier this year to treat ADHD and GAD (generalized anxiety disorder). It worked well because I started at 40 mg. The moment I took the pill within a week my emotions were regulated and I felt really good. Then my dosage was increased to 80 mg.

As someone who exercises hard, I started noticing that it would exhaust me to the point of my heat beating faster than normal and even making me sleepy all the time. When I would forget to take my medicine, my body would then shut down into feeling tired all of a sudden. To counter this effect, I would allow my body to rest when I was exhausted. Eventually I started to alter my daily activities on the days when I forget to take the medicine to ensure that I’m pushing myself to still get things done when my body wanted to sleep because I didn’t take the medicine. It was a struggle for a while. I ultimately stopped taking Strattera due to the treatment program I was in. Strattera is a good pill because it treats those who suffers from anxiety, depression as well as ADHD. Pace yourself and talk to your psychiatrist about your side effects.

I’m happy for your journey! #ADD/ADHD #Community
