I am new to this and suck at tech stuff. I have struggled with ADHD my whole life and it has been stressful. I am now on medication that has helped a ton. My adult daughter has it too but refuses meds and I dont know how to help her but it is like looking in the mirror

I understand, having ADHD & being on med. For it.i also understand having an older daughter who needs to do the same , although my daughter'(teen) might be younger than yours .I'm helping her seek the right help forward . I discuss as I go. So it's no shock. I've had this as far back as I can remember. It has taken it's toll on me.For yrs I stayed away from the med. Because I thought it was bad. I fought day in, day out. With myself going through one thing, to get to some other.Long story short. I know my daughter knows the med. Helps me. She has said she is thankful when I speak clear, stay on track and go places with her. I couldn't do those things hardly at all. She sees that the med. Helps me get ME out of my way. So she is at an end process of lastly finding a sychiatrist and together we will work on what is best for her. She did all her testing as well & has depression/ Anxiety. I keep talking with her so she knows our communication line is always open. I was so quiet about it for yrs. I don't want her to go through feeling less than or to much of', ya know.try to keep a positive flow going between you and your daughter. Let her know what's in your heart. Maybe share your stuff, you don't want her to have to go through it any longer than she has to. I was very upset with the parents god gave me for they wanted no part of anything being wrong with me. So I paid largely for them not accepting me as I was. But rather what they wanted to see as me. Good luck with your daughter. I really do hope you come to be able to talk about ADHD and symptoms. Some you both may share , some you may not. I would think she would get sick of it, but I'm not that young anyone, so what do I know about being young now. Nothing lol , but I know way to much about ADHD. I'm thinking you do to. God bless 🙏 moving forward.

Although I personally am a strong believer in the meds should be taken... she is an adult, and it is her choice to take them or not. She has that right and others need to respect that. You're in a tough situation, but you need to respect her choice. My husband is ADHD and he chooses not to take RX for it. I know if he did it would reduce every day chaos and drama, but I also respect that he doesn't want to take the meds. It sucks because I know how much better life for the family could be if he'd get back on them. But I must remember that it is his choice, no one else's. My advice to you is simple unfortunately... You need to respect your daughters choice not to take RX. It's hard I know, but it's her choice no one else's.

I''m just curious... has your husband ever tried ADHD meds? (not judging, just wondering)

Hi Z....75

As an inattentive myself I have had my own struggles.... I was on meds but eventually had to stop due to medical reasons.... there was a significant difference between having them and not... I really wish I could use them but can’t.

Life is a lot different though.

Perhaps if she tried meds and saw the difference for herself? Since she is an adult it has to come from within her. Is her ADHD affecting her life? Does she think her life could be better? Does she WANT to change?

There is a lot of things one can do to help themselves... medication helps a lot, if I could take it I most certainly would....(perhaps knowing there are people like myself would help her)

Good Luck to you both
