Hi everyone!
I'll try keep this as short as possible.
I suffered from acne pretty badly around the age of 11 for a few years, took Roaccutane, it cleared up, medication did it's job.
Fast forward to now, I'm 30 ish, lovely basic good quality skincare, no smoking, alcohol, good diet (or so I thought!).
Not on any contraceptives.
So for the past few years, I've suffered with just relentless hormonal type acne, especially on my chin, corners of mouth, jawline and cheek occasionally. Some would be blind pimples, take ages to heal. If one popped up, another would inevitably pop up beside the other. Clearly inflamed under the skin. Add to this a bad case of back acne. Especially shoulder blades, and middle of my back but could be liable to spread further down.
I tried everything - supplements, no dairy, cheese. Herbal teas. Exercise. No exercise! Organic veg, no sugar. Sleep was good. Omega 3s. Fish. Live in the country side.
Anyway, I was always researching pine for a cure.
I stumbled across an article/study from
Loren Cordain, PhD, Department of Health and Exercise Science, Colorado State University, Fort Collins.
They studied diets and found that acne is closely linked with Western diets and inflammation.
Acne is basically an inflammatory skin disease so it makes sense.
In a tribe in Papa New Guinea, they could not find one single Papplewick, pustule in the community.
Their diet is purely whole foods. Nothing processed. Very little grains.
Sweet potatoes/tubers/yams as a main carb source. Low GI fruits. Low sugar.
No oils.
Nothing that causes inflammatory response in the body and skin.

Anyways, my diet is now purely whole foods.
I stopped using olive oil.
I do still take some omega 3 fish oil and avocado for some fat intake.
No bread or whole wheat. My stomach issues have calmed down too.
I survive on sweet potatoes as my carb source and lots of fresh veggies and low GI fruit. Oatmeal for breakfast which is soaked the night before in some water and Apple cider vinegar to remove phytic acid.
I also have a nice supply of seeds and nuts.
Chicken, turkey, tuna, white fish as protein.
I have not had to use any products on my back or no harsh products on my gave just a simple cleanser.
Since my diet change alone, no more breakouts!
I hope this is of interest to someone!
Do some more research and let me know if you have any questions.
All the best 😊
