Help my acne is taking over my life

Hey guys!!! Hope your all doing well. Im new to this so il just start by giving a brief intro about myslf. Ive had acne since college and it does not seem to be going away ive tried so many antibiotics. Im now thinking of going for laser has any tried laser treatment???

Hi, I'm sorry you feel like acne takes over your life, but I know exactly what you are talking about! I'm 39 and I also have had acne since my teenage years. It is like I always have one or two spots emerging/healing on my face with lots of permanent blackheads and scars, which I constantly have to camouflage with makeup. I tried lots of things and also tried laser 4 times, however, my reason of doing that was rather the scars what acne left behind. It helped somewhat with resurfacing my skin but the results are nowhere near those photoshopped pictures the clinics present you! And it didn't solve the root cause of the problem, new spots formed even before the dead skin from laser peeled off..

Nowadays I only use a benzoyl peroxide 5% cream once in 1-3 days (it's pretty harsh) and a good moisturiser, and this gives the best result I experienced in the last 20+ years.

I dont know how youve coped for so long im actually sick of this acne. Tbh i dont have scars yet but i have a few pores and im considering microneedling as laser has risks. Have u tried micro needling?? I have my dermotologist appointment today wish me luck

Lots of makeup and the constant belief in the next treatment kept me going.. I can't say it didn't effect my life I feel down many times.. but as life goes on you encounter many other challenges and previous problems seem less serious as the new one. You have to concentrate on the good things in life don't let this issue dominate your feelings, there are so many out there with acne, we are not unique. There are countless people with much more horrible conditions than ours and others with terminal illnesses you have to feel lucky if this is your only problem! (I have loads of others too)

I haven't tried microneedles it was not available when I had the lasers. Sounds better than laser, because laser practically burns off a layer of your face! I firmly believe it's not good for you on the long run! I'm sure the micro needling will help you somewhat with skin resurfacing! Good luck for today 🙂

And then, go home, get some exercise some salad to eat and enjoy the sunshine - these will help, too!

Heyyy thanks for the advice. So the derm put me on roaccutane but im waiting on bloods so in the mean time she put me on the pill. She was really nice she checked my acne and said i dont have any scars yet and she would like to keep it that way thats why the best course was roaccutane. Everyones put me off lasers becuause the top layer of skin is burnt off the pores and imperfections look more visible. If you dont have active acne you should find somewhere that does microneedling once my spots disappear i intend to try it out.
