Hi Charity, How long has your granddaughter been on concerta for? It may be a case of her body still adjusting to the medication or she may need a change of dose or even a change of medication altogether, it can be a long hard road getting the medication correct. Unfortunately it’s not a one for all condition, which makes it so frustrating. My son did not react well to stimulants on there own however once we introduced a non-stimulant to also help with his anxiety the two combined have been amazing he is a different child and his little world finally seems calm.

This may be something to discuss with her doctor.

Good luck!

We tried with Concerta and that did not work well for my daughter. We were finally able to find success with Straterra shortly after starting it. This with Prozac has made a huge difference in the morning. We also take Guanfacine right after school. I hope this helps.

My son was on Concerta. It seemed to work ok but since he was still having problems paying attention in school he is now on Lisdecamfetamine That last longer into the evening. As he was very hyper once he got home. I have a great doctor. We work great together. His medication has changed a few times as we are still searching for the perfect fit. We start low with a new medication then raise it slowly. Based on what I am seeing with him. The medicine he is on now seems to be working. I think all medications have different effects. You just have to keep trying to find the perfect. You should be able to tell if its working or not. Keep close contact with your doctor and together you can work together to find what works best. Hang in there! With me it has been adjusting or changing his medication .

talk to the doctor. Sometimes coming off stimulant meds each day makes people agitated.
