My son was on Adderral and it worked well but he had to continuously take higher dosages. We switched to Concerta which was working during the school day but then in the late afternoon and evening we had many issues with his behavior. We had been giving him a dose in the afternoon but that prolonged his issue with lack of appetite and we could not get him to go to bed. The doctor prescribed guanfacine which is not a stimulant. He took it for the first time yesterday afternoon and it seemed to calm him down and no issues. Only one day in but the results were very good. That being said it has only been a day and we all know there are good and bad days. Anyone tried this drug?

Our son has used it for many years and it has helped him a lot. I will keep my fingers crossed that you continue to see this success.
Best to you
For my son, he also had those issues with the stimulant alone. When we added on the guanfacine it felt like it smoothed over the gaps when stimulant was wearing off so we didn't get those behaviors. It also helped him a ton with sleep. He takes his in the morning and another dose at 4pm.
