HelloMy 4 and a half year old was prescribed Biphentin, first time getting any medication and I was really scared try it. I gave it to him on Monday morning at 7:30am when he left for school. He attends before and after school care so he is there until 6pm. His teachers complained it wore off after lunch hour. I was told the afternoon he was very agitated and in a terrible mood and bad with his friends. He also developed a mouth tick which he still had at 7pm that evening but went away the next day. I got so scared I haven't given it to him again. Has anyone else had side effects with this medication?

Biphentin Side Effect
I do not know this particular medicine, but I go by this rule, anytime my child is given a new medication, I give it to him first on a weekend day so I can observe him. I found that most medications have a side effects when they wear off. I would report to the doctor and you decide if you want to try it one more time on the weekend.
Hey there, my almost 6 year old just started Biphentin a couple weeks ago. Our prescriber told us to start it on the weekend so we could keep a close eye on him for the first couple of days. She also said that it can cause increased irritability and mood swings. It has one of the shorter durations of effects like 10ish hours. The biggest side effects she told us to watch out for was reduced appetite and possible difficulty falling asleep. His behaviour, attention and concentration have drastically improved since starting it, and we don’t give it on weekends. I would tell your prescriber about the effects so they can guide you in the right direction!
Hey there! Starting medication is scary - I can totally relate. My son started biphentin at 8 years old and it didn’t last long. He was okay while the medication was working, but once it started to leave his system he had major irritability and frustration. He had a couple of rage episodes, which were really concerning. Way worse than if he hadn’t taken any medication. Needless to say, we stopped giving it to him. Considering all the other side effects, it was doing more harm than good. But - everyone is different and it works well for lots of kids. I agree that you probably need to try it on a weekend first so you can really monitor.
