Clonidine patch

Has anyone tried Clonidine patch. My son started one month ago but he reacted to the transdermal patch with redness and itching only to the patch area.

His psychiatrist said it may be from the patch or medicine itself. We are switching the Clonidine to a brand name vs. generic to see if that is any different. I was just wondering if anyone reacted to the patch.

I am sorry I do not have experience with the patch. Just curious, is the reason he is given the patch is becuase he struggles to swallow pills? Or that it can slowly dispense the medication? I know it costs a lot but could they do a compounded ( usually liquid) instead if the patch is not successful.

Good luck with a different type.
