Guanficine methylphenidate and clonidine

My son just started taking guanficine in the morning with his concerts was just wondering if anyone else’s children has had no appetite with this combination?pleased to say he now takes 2mg of short acting clonidine and 1mg of long acting clonidine and is finally getting some much needed sleep all night long just wishing I could get him to eat he’s 6 weighing 39 pounds

My daughter is on,gauafacin for about 4 days n her appetite is goin up , she is very tired and sleepy ,

Her appetite has gone up , and then comes the constipation started with this , but other wise she is ok

My son takes Focalin and Guanfacine. He eats all day now and picked up a little weight. At first he was taking methylphenidate and his teacher would call to tell me he hasn't eaten anything all day. Hopefully his appetite picks up.

My son takes too. It tends to loose the appetite and constipation may occur. What I do is to offer him food when the medication is going away instead of giving the pill and try to feed. For constipation we are doing Miralax and prunes daily. Most of days some Pedialax chewing tablets. Guanfacine has helped with fidgeting body movement, agitation, but it may cause some bursts or irritability when the effect is going away.

Hi, I was reading through this thread as my son also take Guanfacine time released at night. It makes him sleepy and he certainly does have an appetite. We were concerned about the constipation as this has been an area of struggle for us for years (even before the meds). I am good friends with a Nurse Practioner; she brought me a bott of Oxy-Powder colon cleanse and it has been a life saver for us. My son had two movements in one day! First time ever. Guanfacine does not decrease appetite and may increase it. Concerta can decrease it. Over time, this usually gets better.
