Zoloft, and thoughts

Our 15yrs old daughter's doctor is writing a rx for Zoloft to help with her depression. Since being in virtual school since March 2020 she has struggled terribly. Our daughter is high functioning Autism. She has a therapist she meets every other week to help navigate the, "new normal". After many consults it was decided that she go on Zoloft. Any feed back or word of advice to help. Thank you very much.

Our family is of the thought to trust the people giving us the advice and if it was not working we could slowly stop. I wish your daughter great success. Thanks for the post.

Of course it varies from child to child but Zoloft was a HUGE help to my daughter who was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. Virtual school has been very tough. Hang in there!

Thank you so very much! I had a great conversation with her pediatrician and she really settled me down and took the time to answer my questions and walk me thru all of my concerns. I was a pharmaceutical rep and I was there at the launch of Zoloft almost 23years ago. Yes the side effect were there, and our pediatrician said that the medicine has come a long way and to give it a try and see how she gets along. Thank you so much once again!

Hi, we tried other antidepressants for our then 13 yo with no results. 18 month later depression and anxiety crippling and we are waiting for an appointment with a psychiatrist to try again. I know all kids are different it what is it specifically about Zoloft that the doctor thought would help.

Thank you for the reply. After speaking with her pediatrician the lowest dose of Zoloft was a good option for her. Since she is on the lowest dose we should see a change over a 2 weeks period.
