Can I mix Adderall XR with Yoo-hoo to get child to take it?

I was thinking about opening the capsule into a medicine cup and just adding a few squirts of Yoo-hoo so he will drink it down. Will this be ok?

Absolutely talk to the doctor first and I wouldn't recommend adding it to liquid especially if it's time release. Our son is on time release medication and can't swallow the pill so our doctor has us open it up into a spoonful of applesauce and that works well.

Some time release medication cannot be opened up as it has to dissolve slowly. Ask you doctor.

Not sure if you know what time release means. Medication is dissolved in the body 3x in a day. So the amount of the dose slowly releases am, a few hours later and then last part ( of the window the medication is in the body)

Our son had to have special x-rays of his stomach and they showed me the pill still dissolving in his stomach during the procedure.

So if you open it and dissolve it the extended part might be changed.

You could also speak to the pharmacist where you get the medication.

I know what time release means.... if the doctor says to open it up and sprinkle it over food then it obviously can be opened. I just wanted to make sure I could put it in liquid instead of applesauce

In case you can't use liquid, we had good results with a spoonful of ice cream.
