Does anyone has experience getting their child diagnosis on dyspraxia or any information on this?

Think of dyspraxia as the exam finding (impaired fine and/or gross motor coordination) and developmental coordination disorder as the clinical disorder. Occupational therapists help for the diagnosis and management.
To add to the previous post, in the US, dyspraxia is not an official diagnosis, like not billable. You have to use the F82 (Specific developmental disorder of motor function) or R27.8 ( Other lack of coordination). I am dealing with this now because my insurance company will not cover OT if the dyspraxia is called a developmental disorder, but they might cover it if billed under R27.8. So dumb, same motor skill deficiency, different code on a paper. We simply asked our neuropsychiatrist to fax over a paper with the diagnosis. She didn't officially "test" him. You can see by his handwriting, odd grip, hard pressure on writing utensils and resistance to writing sentences (completely separate from intellect) without testing. We he see her all the time for meds, so that was how we did it.
Hi,
My sons just been diagnosed. It took years. In the end after physiotherapy I just said it's not working as there is nothing wrong with his muscles etc. It was then I had a good conversation about what my son was suffering. The physio mentioned Dyspraxia as his brother has it, he then referred my son to a specialist. Lots of paperwork to sign and waiting. Finally he got an OT assessment and then a consultation where I explained all the problems my son had. I got a diagnosis a few days ago. I'm feeling relieved as my son is now going to get the help he deserves.
