Ciao a tutti! Viviamo a Roma.

Thanks Jim, I went to Google Translate and got this translation so that other English speakers could read the post and then reply. Daniela Carla can then use Google to translate to Italian. I do see some ambiguous words that may not have translated correctly but I think people here will get the points.

Hello everyone! My nephew has ADHD and is 26 years old. We live in Rome. My sister, her mother, has been a widow for a few years and alone, she goes from one psychologist to another, psychiatrist, labor office, regional support ... but my nephew is always the same: he takes weight, listless, mood swings, lazy ... and lack respect to his mother when he gets nervous. I mean ... could this ADHD be a human trap? Sorry for the outburst ....

And here is Jim's reply in English with a few corrections from the Google translation:

First of all, welcome! And I apologize in advance for the Google Translate version of your beautiful language, but I don't speak Italian. Haha!

I understand how frustrating it can be to watch struggling family members. Do you know if he is taking medication for his ADHD besides looking for therapy? And have any other causes of his behavior been excluded? Your nephew's behavior towards your sister is probably the result of his lack of impulse control; he cannot stop thinking about his actions before executing them. This can continue to be a problem even in adulthood. I know it's still a constant struggle with my son (who is 8 years old - I know, much younger! Haha, ADHD Type combined with behavioral component), even with drugs, but he was better with that without for sure, at least in making all its symptoms manageable; and we plan to start behavioral therapy now that we have entered the right med / dosage, finally. I have also seen many suggestions here on broad spectrum micronutrients; they do not require a prescription, so they should be available in Italy, even if by mail order, and could give them some success, even if they are not interested in using pharmaceutical methods to treat their ADHD. The treatment and management of symptoms are so crucial, even as adults; your sister seems to have tried everything possible. I wish you, your sister and your nephew all the luck! And I hope your nephew will finally find a therapeutic plan that works for him.

Sorry, old eyes and an old pair of glasses so I have problems with reading the computer screen. The brain sometimes fills in letters or numbers that aren't there. But thanks for leading the way with the translation.
