Ok, here is what I don't get. I'm just trying to get these dang meds right for my daughter. We've been on the same meds, but different doses for four months now. Yes, we change the dose frequently. Me: I'm calling because a few days from now we're probably changing my daughter's script again and I wanted to make sure that you have the new dosage in stock. Pharmacy: Um...well, I don't know and we won't order it under the script comes in. Me: Well, ok, but I'm just telling you it's going to change. Pharmacy: umm …. Me three days later: So, the dosage changed. Pharmacy: Oh, well, we have to order that now, it'll be here next Wednesday. Me: banging my head on my desk. I totally understand there are laws covering all this but it just drives me to distraction. One of her scripts is a top schedule controlled substance, I get that one. The other is not. UGH. Thank you, it's Friday, I'm tired and I needed to vent...

Sending a hug ur way..nothing is easy with pharmacies.hope it all works out for u.
It's ok. I use to go to Walgreens and they NEVER had my kids meds in stock and took for ever. What i realized these kids take no were near the same dosage and the same meds. But you right you just had to vent and that's what we here for!
Oh my gosh, i feel you! Something is going with the pharmacies around me because I had to call about 5 different ones to find one that had my sons in stock I always dread when its time for a refill!
I have run into that problem a few times and it's so frustrating. You can't just not give a kid a mad that they're on.
I ended up switching to Walmart neighborhood market. If they are out there is a network of Walmarts around me that can usually find what I need even if I have to drive a bit.
CVS Is good about calling around to their other pharmacies too.
Good luck.
Here is another tip that has worked for me many years- use a local hospital pharmacy if you have one nearby. One year there was a shortage of Focalin and after calling 5 pharmacies i went online to get advice from other parents and someone suggested this. It worked! The hospital pharmacy was able to get the meds within 24 hours. I’ve used them every since!
Ooh, that's a great idea! Thank you!
I think also if the hospital has a 24 hour ER room they would stock more in the pharmacy.
So frustrating.. I just re-filled all 3 and I feel like a felon they have to record my Driver's license and I have to sign for it..
This is another frustrating aspect about giving medication.
Big hugs!
We’ve had the EXACT same problem and we ended up switching medications because I was driving all over the place to get my daughters meds. We thought we finally had a reliable pharmacy (small, family owned) and then they ran out of her meds with no date of when the supplier would have more. It’s so frustrating. Can I ask whether your experience has been with Metadate CD? We ended up going back to Focalin even though my daughter has more sleep issues on it. Ugh!
arrrghhh...so nice to know others have the same problem. It's concerta and abilify that we have the problem with...I'm like, hey, we've been taking this for awhile now, we're very reliable in picking this up EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. c'mon folks!
Have you tried Melatonin to help her sleep? My son used to have this problem and we gave him a 1.5 Melatonin gummy 1 hour before bed and that did the trick. Dr approved. I used to get them at Walmart or on Amazon- Vitafusion.
Oh yes, we use melatonin. It's the controlled substances that are the problem. We also live in a small town and there is only one other pharmacy to call and it's 45 minutes away...
YES!!! I share your frustration! Fortunately we have a few pharmacies in our small town so one of them always has it in stock but I’ve had to drive around to check multiple times.
