Does anyone have more than one child with an ADHD diagnosis? My middle daughter is diagnosed with ADHD along with some other diagnosis’ as well, but call me crazy... I’ve been beginning to think my youngest has been showing signs of ADHD as well. I wonder if I’m just paranoid or overthinking things, or if it’s actually something to think about.
Two kids with a diagnosis : Does anyone... - CHADD's ADHD Pare...
Two kids with a diagnosis
Two here.. not surprising since ADHD is genetic
It is fun, challenging, exhausting..
I only have one and she is adopted, but I do know it is genetic. That aside can we just discuss how absolutely amazing their DRESSES and bows are?! Mostly by the time my daughter gets home from school, her clothes are stained and her hair has "magically" come undone! They are beautiful!
I have 3...... 17, 11 & 7. You not crazy!! For a min I felt the same way until I had them diagnosed to. It's so much better at school and at home.good luck
I have 2 out of 3- But it was my 12 year old son who was diagnosed first because he had more of the typical symptoms- a little active and disorganized. Really hated school and hated homework. He could NOT get it together in middle school. The interesting part is that after we got him diagnosed, through meeting other parents with ADHD kids, I finally recognized that my 18 year old daughter has Inattentive ADHD. She is very different from my son- She has great executive functioning and never had any problems with organization or school- She just ALWAYS HATED to read, and could not sit through a movie. She loves math and could do it all day- Her ADHD got past me. I guess my point is that even if you have more than one child with ADHD their conditions and symptoms may be worlds apart. Sometimes I just think we ALL have SOMETHING! Since my kids have trouble focusing, I'm glad they have been diagnosed because school is better for them now that they take Vyvanse and have made some behavioral changes. Plus, just knowing about their ADHD has helped them a lot too. And me too.
Awe, thanks so much for that! I have an 8th, 4th and 2nd grader (and soon to be newborn!) So we’re head first in to this whole school business now. Homework is constantly a battle (especially all 18 of those spelling words!) My 4th grader actually has autism as well so she was diagnosed first. Now, I’m just starting the process with my 2nd grader because I’m almost positive she’s got ADHD, too. I feel stupid walking in to the office and saying “alright, I’ve got another one that doesn’t focus either.” 😂
my son is in 8th grade- I'm curious- How do you handle the homework? It is such a daily battle! And I feel like no one at his school really gets that (and he is in a private school that has a highly professional faculty, but ADHD is just not fully understood by most people). I mean, by 4pm he is DONE! It is just such a struggle - And by 8th grade there is a decent amount of homework so high school terrifies me. I HAVE to be present and push him through. Meanwhile, the school promotes INDEPENDENCE! I can't tell them how much I have to help him because they TRULY do not get ADHD. I would Love to know that there are other moms out there in the same position as me- I feel like I'm the only one who has to oversee every minute of her 8th grader's homework! my best way to describe it is - his tank is EMPTY by 4:00 and there really isn't much we can do to re-fill by then. He takes meds in the morning. Ive even tried smaller dose again at 4 but it doesn't seem to do much. SORRY FOR THE RANT!
