Is your child treated differently at school by peers if they have ADHD accommodations? My daughter will start 4th grade at a new school.

She was diagnosed with ADHD last year in October but we never requested any accommodations at the old school.

My son is headed into second grade. He has accommodations such as a desk partition for test taking. No negative comments yet from peers but if he got them oh well. He needs the accommodations to be his very best. It would be no different than teasing a kid with a cast on his leg. The cast is necessary. So are the accommodations at least in our case. Best of luck to you!

My son has not had any negative comments from peers regarding accommodations.

I’m not sure, as my son didn’t have official accommodations yet - his Kindergarten teacher pretty much already had everything we would have asked for in her bag of tricks. I’m interested to see how first grade will go.

I have a son who will go into 8th grade. He has not mentioned anything negative, although periodically he is a little sensitive about his accommodations. It helps that all his teachers (reg ed as well as SpEd teachers) are sensitive and make it “not a big deal”.
