Guanfacine

Anyone have experience with guanfacine?

I have a six year old little boy who has been taking guanfacine for several months now and we have seen a huge improvement. No more reports of him choking others, kicking, scratching, or biting. We used to get reports daily. His impulsiveness has calmed down quite a bit as well. He takes 1mg a day at night with his dinner. He still has a few incidences but far less than before he started taking guanficine.

Hello. We had the opposite effect with guanfacine. Our dr added the short-acting guafacine at night (in addition to the concerta during the day). My child's behavior became much worse-more outbursts/meltdowns and worsening inattentive issues (almost as if it counter-acted the concerta). My child is more on the side of inattentive adhd, so that may be the reason. I took her off the guanfacine after a few days.

I do. My almost 7 years old takes it. It works for us with a combo of a mini dose of Adderal in the morning. Guanfacine reduced tremendously the impulsivity and the aggressive behavior.

So my son has ADD. He doesn't have the hyperactive trait so I was worried guanfacine would maybe to to much of a downer for him? Anyone else know anything about that?
