Hi everybody, I'm the parent of a ten her old daughter with adhd, odd, ebd, severe anxiety. I'm having school issues with getting her changed from a 504 to an IEP. I have many letters with supporting evidence from her psychologist yet her first iep evaluation was done in third grade qualify for 504 now she is in 5th grade and I just wrote a request for another iep evaluation because she had more diagnoses and is struggling at school and I refuse to let her fall through the cracks.

Good luck. Mine is in 5th as well. She has a 504. I'm not sure what an IEP would do. I feel like her teachers are so clueless about ADHD. Curious, what will an iep do for her?

An IEP gets much more restrictions and help at school. Send a certified letter requesting a meeting. Bring letters from your doctor. And don't let them talk you out of it.

My grandson's grade school also fought him switching. It's more trouble they didn't want to do it. His Middle School is much more accommodating and he gets so much help with his IEP
