Hi fellow ADHD parents. Our son was diagnosed with ADHD two years ago and was put on aderol (sp) daily, then they added Vyvanse to his daily meds and now they have added Mirtazapine as well. None of it seems to actually be working, and he still has outbursts, trouble controlling his anger and is completely distracted at school. We just took him in the NeuroPlus Institute and had a brain mapping scan done. They are saying that he is a great candidate for neurofeedback and they want us to start it now and continue for six months. They say it will improve his brain function 70-90% in that time. Has anyone actually done this? Successful? Worthless? It is extremely expensive so I am trying to learn all I can. Thank you in advance

Neurofeedback success?
I haven’t tried neurofeedback, so I can’t help much on that; but Did you tried Focalin? Is the school giving him learning disability accommodations? Is he going to a therapists now?
I’ll try anything until I find my child able to managed her executive functions and self regulate herself, which will happen, hopefully, by the time she is in HS. The early you start treatment, the better the outcome.
Good luck!
Hello,
I have tried Neurofeedback about 6 years ago. IFirst be aware it is very expensive and time consuming. We saw results in our then 5th grade son who had ADHD, so much so the teacher noticed, however, it was either short term or his ADHD professed because he eventually had to go on medicine in 6th grade.
Today, my other son who is 14 is a good candidate for neurofeedback. I am still deciding (and convincing my son) whether to do it again. If I recall it would be about $6000.
Hope this helps, good luck!
We tried neurofeedback with our 12 year old son. Ours was covered by insurance, but we didn't see enough of a benefit after about 8 months so discontinued it. I have heard some others saw an improvement, but I don't know how long the benefit lasts after stopping.
