My son was diagnosed about 2 years ago...he’s about to be 7 in May. It has been a struggle to say the least. It is still a struggle. His diagnosis didn’t just come with ADHD, it came with underlying social behavioral problems, almost mimicking autistic characteristics. He’s on such a high dose of his medication and in behavioral and occupational therapy because he has delayed motor functions. I’m a single mom and he has one younger sibling. Most days are okay, but those few days that sneak in where he has his “fits” are overwhelming and I feel like I’m failing when I get frustrated with him.
I didn’t know if anyone here had something similar but was hoping to talk to parents with similar situation...hoping I’m not the only one struggling through this.

Oh my dear you are so not alone! 😭Feeling overwhelmed, guilty, alone, exhausted are common for a "regular" parent then you add something like ADHD to the mix and it's a completely different ride...I've yelled, cryed, pleaded, hate to admit to spanking ( which was pointless because he just laughed in my face)..... thankfully you've reached out to people who can relate. Keep loving yourself and your child. My child has ADHD and anxiety we have days were I think everything is great and I have the problems and within the hour it's reversed thinking to this child needs help and I can't do it. The truth is we can both do it, although same days are more painful then others. Keep up the great work. You can do this, you won't be his mom if you couldn't...hang in there grab some gravel because it's a long ride which has just started 🤤🤤🤤
