We just left my 7yr old’s prescribing doctor and he has decided to add the medicine trileptal to his schedule in addition to the Focalin and Focalin XR that he already takes? Anybody had any experience good or bad with this med?!

I have a epileptic, sensory possessing, ADHD ocd odd icd child and she is on trileptal for her seizures, watch for counteractions for it. My little one has been on it since she was 23 months and she use to be a Chucky baby now since she was put on that first she lost her appetite and has since been added a string full of medicines on top of it. Please make sure his meds don't interact with it. A lot of doctors don't check that before they give a child more medicine

I asked his doctor if we should continue his Focalin and he said it would be fine to continue it with the trileptal...he is dosing him gradually day by day

Ask your pharmacist to check for interactions. My daughter's doctor gave her a cold medicine one time and said it wouldn't counteract with her trileptal and we ended up in the emergency room at Riley because my daughter started freaking out and having seizures to the point I had to idea how to handle it. When I was in the er the dr informed me it was the medicine that the doctor had given us that made this happen. It was a major interaction so now I check everything before it even passes her mouth. Good luck keep ur chin up it does get better

Look up each medicine you've been given read about the side affects and see if you are willing to use the drug. My 14 year old has been on meds since she was 4 and I am taking her off all meds having to do with ADHD. I just finished researching all the meds that she has taken and they are all on the list for long term side affects on the heart. Yesterday she was diagnosed with a heart murmur and now we have to see a pediatric cardiologist. I hope all goes well for you. Dianne
