Hi, anyone have the issue of your child not swallowing pills. What could I pour the vyvanse capsule into? She doesn't eat yogurt or applesauce. Not sure if I put it into her orange juice or just into some water mix it into a medicine cup and have her take it. We are starting the medication tomorrow . I'm terrified.

When our son was on Ritalin LA we poured the capsule onto a marshmallow... Cut one in half, pour the stuff on and sandwich back on. He then would get an additional marshmallow after he takes his "pilled" one so not to associate too much of pill = marshmallow....

Our grandson took Vyvanse when he was 5, and I mixed it with a small amount of orange or grape soda, which he liked and did not get to have very often. He was into Toy Story at the time, and we called it his “infinity juice” to make him stronger. That worked pretty well for us. I think you need to avoid anything with added Vitamin C for some reason. The Vyvanse powder dissolved and mixed well, and I only gave it in about 2 ounces of the liquid to be sure he drank it all.

I open up my sons pill and pour the capsules into food. He also cannot swallow pills. I am not familiar with your medicine, but my sons has tiny capsules inside the main pill. I open up whatever he is eating and hide it in there. I found eggo waffles work the best - I would put it in the ridges of the eggo, then cover them in butter and he couldn't see them. Of course, then he got onto my and stopped eating them.

It's hard and I don't really have a solution either.

Always make sure it's okay to open up a capsule. Some are time released and they say do not open up.

I use canned whipped cream. Even my 5 year old grandson was able to take a capsule hidden in a spoonful of whipped cream. One grandson takes more than one pill and takes them all at once in whipped cream, they just slide down.

My son doesn't swallow pills either. I open the capsule and pour it in yogurt or honey, or peanut butter. Sometimes I even just pour it out on his tongue and let him wash it down with water or milk. Good luck

Iv'e heard parents say chocolate syrup. I do that with cold medication and works great . if its hard for your child they may want to switch to a tablet my son just chews the tablet and hated the capsules when I opened them.

My child won’t swallow pills either. She used to take opened Vyvance in juice or chocolate protein drink but some would settle to bottom so she wouldn’t get it all. Now she takes Quillichew.

I break it open into a bottle of Propel (he loves grape flavor).

We take the pill, put it in the top of an applesauce or yogurt pouch and squirt it in. Our pediatrician was impressed by the method and now recommends it to other parents.
