ADHD - opinions about meds for anger

New here and looking for advice/opinions. My son is almost 10 and on a stimulant medication for ADHD which is very successful for him. Within the past few months he is having extreme difficulty with emotional regulation, goes from 0-60 in a second, outbursts, anger, bullying behavior at school which has caused trouble. He sees a counselor (since the spring), will be getting an IEP at school, has a loving and supportive family/community/school. Recently we met with a psychiatrist and we are exploring the options of other meds - either mood stabilizers or anti-psychotic meds to help level him out. While these meds scare me a bit something needs to be done. I support holistic methods but I also believe in science. Does anyone have experience with their kids and these meds on top of other ADHD stimulant medicine? Thanks for your kind support.

We had a similar situation. My 12 yo daughter was recently diagnosed and we started concerta. The meds made her have severe mood swings and act very differently. We switched her meds and she is back to her normal happy self but more focused. I'd talk to the doctor about the possibility that the stimulant might be the cause before adding additional meds. Good luck!!

My son is 11 and sees a couselor he also is on Lamictal for mood stabilizer. It works really well
