6 year old son with ADHD

Hello, I'm on here to try and gain as much info and experience as I can to help my 6 year old son. He was just diagnosed with inattentive ADHD, last week, but the psychologist does not want to medicate due to family history of anxiety. We are frustrated to have a diagnosis but not yet an affective plan. An IEP is in place and his teacher is aware but it's a slow process. She has so many students I'm afraid he's getting lost even though he has special resources helping him stay up to speed on work, in a different classroom. Thanks to anyone who chooses to respond and thanks for sharing your experiences!!
