My son is 8 and in 3rd grade. He has ADHD but is not on meds. When he was he lost 25 pounds. He is little thing anyway. We are having a very hard time getting him under control. We can't find a good way to disciplining him. Please help me find a way to help him.

Help me!!
You could try other meds as there might be one that works perfectly for him. You could also find him a hobby that will tire him out such as football or swimming and see how that works out. Mabey that feel help with his excess energy.❤❤❤
I agree with MarySI. Also, have you watched any Russell Barkley videos or read his books? Helpful info there.
Not a doctor here, so please ask a qualified physician to be sure. My understanding, however, is that some stimulant meds have appetite effects as your son may have experienced, but there are some non-stimulant meds (one of which my son is taking) that do not have appetite-related/growth effects. A pediatrician or child psychiatrist may be able to advise as to whether such medications might be right for your child. As for discipline, I've found that a lot of the time, methods that can be effective on non-ADHD kids are less effective for my son, particularly things like "Don't do X or you'll lose privilege Y." Does that mean we have abandoned trying that method. Hah, no, we still try that, but not always because there are times when I feel like I can tell it isn't going to work (particularly in the early stages of what seems likely to be a meltdown), and imposing consequences just makes things worse. There are a lot of books out there on ADHD and parenting, and I'm still trying to read through them and absorb what they say. I'd check out Amazon and see if certain titles sound like they might fit your situation, and then check the book out of the library if possible.
What is your son taking? He goes to the doctor this week so we can try new meds. I have seen almost ever book there is at my library. He has a hard time with his brother. It's like he resents him. I'm at a loss.
We finally had some symptom relief from my son's severe ADHD on adderall but same problem ... he was losing weight and falling off the growth curve. We tried Vyvanse but it made him more aggressive. Now we're back on Adderall but 1/2 the dose which isn't enough to help. Next route is non stimulant meds
