Zoladex experience

Hey all,

I’m on the waiting list for a hysterectomy as I have adenomyosis, fibroids and polycystic ovaries. Not sure if I have endo too.

I was put on the list in January and the wait was 5 months. I was put on Zoladex which was meant to stop my pain and heavy bleeding as I’m anaemic now too and just been in constant pain and all the other symptoms for years now.

I’ve had two Zoladex injections so far and my 3rd is next Monday but I’m still bleeding and only had 4 days pain free after the second Zoladex dose.

I went in for my second consultation check up today and because I’m still bleeding and in pain she doesn’t want to book in a hysterectomy yet because of my age (in nearly 34, I’m sterilised too) because if Zoladex isn’t stopping my pain she said a hysterectomy won’t.

Does anyone know if this is the same for everyone? Will Zoladex just take longer to work? I came out crying because I now have to wait another two months maybe still in pain and still having periods.

She said if I’m not in pain by my next appointment she will book the surgery in but I think it’s getting me down having headaches, nausea, hot flushes, pain, heavy thick clotty periods still and having to wait longer.

The only cure for adenomyosis is a hysterectomy so I just don’t see why that won’t help 😩 I feel so bad for my husband and children because I’m constantly in pain, depressed, anxious and everything else. It just feels like no one understands :(

Hi I have had a very similar experience, I was bleeding so much my coil fell out and the pain was awful. I had my 3rd zoladex on the 10th and my bleeding has now stopped and pain is better (still there but better). I was put on tibolone to protect bones and reduce symptoms of menopause, are you on HRT?

I had the same in my 40s, zoladex did stop the periods but they just came back after treatment .I decided to wait for menopause rather than hysterectomy at the time, and things settled down after menopause but I was always constipated and still had pain. I then got told I had a 9cb fibroid as well as the adenomyosis and was told that all this was pressing on my bowel causing the pai and constipation. I decided years later to have the hysterectomy and I regret it as it seems to have made the constipation and pain even worse. My advise would be to try every other treatment before you opt for ahysterectomy, I wish I had
