Prolactin levels and your experiences ?

Am wondering how many of women here have had high prolactin level readings on a regular or even irregular basis ? Have you not been tested ?

There’s some interesting treatment studies into using prolactin receptor antibodies instead of prolactin suppression as an effective inhibitors of endo growth. It seems better tolerated /effective where by report than the oestrogen suppression fails or where oestrogen treatment has limited success.

I’ve always held that my no tumour based fluctuating high prolactin readings are an indicator of disease other than the pituitary itself which appears to be throughly normal. Whenever it’s particularly high the overall inflammation process increases. As endo wasn’t diagnosed at that point it was always a “punt in the dark “ from my gut feeling. The suggestion was always brushed aside but now am questioning this in light of this new info.

Hi - I just had a high prolactin level but not sure of cause yet. I have had adenomyosis...maybe there's a connection?

One to watch certainly. Hope they are checking it out understanding of prolactins role seems pretty limited but I know they are realising it’s more wise reaching than just pituitary related or milk production. Seems it has an inflammatory role too.
