Biomarkers as Predictive Tools for Selection of Treatment

A good reference for the state of art in biomarkers...some good work is being done that may help the community of men in this group. Be forewarned; PSA of 4.0 is useless...the Dr in this presentation says; "Its one of the worst decision in Oncology." DO NOT wait for PSA to get this high...do not depend on a DRE...none of these will give you the margin of safety you think they do...the mix of biomarkers and the pathway to treatment discussed here is mind blowing...man do I wish I had this one surgery and an IMRT ago...but if this helps someone in this group, if this will help my two Sons then lets shout it out from the rooftops...TNX

PS I asked my surgeon about blood tests, I requested information and possible use of biomarkers...crickets were heard in the room as I recall...so onwards to surgery I went...but in my case it was way too late...PSA was just over 4.0 and I was 66 years old...should NEVER have waited that long...but I did not know...so be forewarned...TNX2

In one year my PSA went from 2.0 to 4.0, at the age of 53. It was suggested that I get a biopsy. One core picked up mild grade 6 cancer. In quest for a solution one surgeon said to just watch and wait to see what happens. Well I ended up with RALP. Report ended up T3b. Glad I did not wait.
