Surgery wound -healing time

hello all -i wanted to ask how long it took for the wound to heal after the surgery. I was back home in about 10 days or so after surgery. I went to the GP and got my stitches remove and went a few times over the next couple of weeks to monitor the mound. Now i dont go since they told me to come only if there is a problem. They were satisfied with the progress. Now it's been almost 6 weeks since my surgery. Although most of the wound is healed, I still have scabs, sometimes a little comes off in bath and see a few blood stains on my pillow in the morning . Some times a bit of pus comes too (which the nurse squeezed out too when had it earlier I went to GP but she want worried about it). So just wondering how long it took for the wound to heal completely.

I think they have a set time of roughly a week or so bad we are all different. I heal quickly even now I am older but others don’t. If you have ever had stitches before it gives you an idea. It also depends where if over a joint or main muscle it needs longer to take the stress, good luck

Hi Blappers, i was expecting mine to heal quicker than it did, i kept it dry and it only got wet for a short period when i was washing my hair which i only did once a week. I never had it bleed or have pus though. Maybe keep an eye on that. I had an area along the incision that kept growing a scab even months later, it would scab up and seemed to grow excess skin on it, then a few weeks later it would come away and a week later start growing again. It was only 9 months later it stopped doing it but its always been dry underneath no pus/blood

Thanks Pinkrose1, I wash my head every day and stand in the shower for few minutes. They said it's ok to wash, maybe I am overdoing a bit. Will ask in my next appointment :)

Mine took about 2 months for every part to be clear of scabbing . A little bleeding in first week but never any pus. I think you should get it checked. 18 months on my wound is still very sensitive and tight.

Thank you. I had a bit of pus when I had to go for having it checked by my GP treatment room after a week of coming home. The said it's ok and can happen. But I'll have it checked again. It's going to be exactly 6 weeks after the surgery tomorrow.
