How many of you had a vestibular exam completed prior to surgery? I gad one done this week. What it was able to tell me was that I gave lost and accommodated for 50% of my balance. I was wondering who has had one, and how it might of been a indication of how well/difficult your post op went?

Vestibular Exam
I noticed a significant loss of my balance in the weeks leading up to my surgery, they did a test at my pre op and although it wasn’t awful, it was definitely not what it should be for someone my age (25). I found that after surgery there was the initial wobbling that made walking hard, but it subsided once I was discharged and walking around the house like normal.
I think having some balance loss before the op means your body is already used to compensating so you’ll probably find it’s not a complete shock for your body. That being said, give your body time to recover and it’ll surprise you how resilient it is. I rode a bike 6 weeks post op which felt a huge achievement
I had lost almost all my balance although I didn’t feel wobbly at all but I was occasionally getting vertigo. My balance was really affected by surgery for the first week but I’m now 11 weeks on and I would say I’m 80% there and most of that is due to walking. It’s barely noticeable. It does seem this really varies from person to person though.
