Question related to Recovery

Hi All,

I had Acoustic Neuroma of 3.4 cm big. I got operated last year in October. After the Operation everything is fine, it took time to recover. But, I am not completely recovered. My face and my smile isn't back. It's been more than a year and I am still hoping that it gets better. My physio said that it won't recover now, but I am still hoping for a miracle. Also my right eye doesn't generate tears and I can't move my right eyebrow. Can anyone suggest me of anything, I would be very grateful. Thank you 😊

Hello Frooti, I was also in this same situation - I spoke to my doctor and referred me to a clinical psychologist where we discussed potential options. It took a couple of sessions and research which led me to decide in having a cross facial nerve grafting surgery.

Its still not perfect but it has helped and made some difference with the smile.

All the best.

Thank you for your suggestion, but I don't fancy another surgery. 😟

You can have physio, nerve transplant or leave it longer as mine took just over two years. Good luck x

Hi there. I also had no tears or taste in the affected side after surgery. I am now 5 years post op and have just started to cry a bit and taste some, so don’t give up hope on improving. It is a slow business. Have you taken a second physio opinion on your face? I would continue any relevant excersises if possible for you to give yourself the best chance long term. Good luck!

Sad to say my opinion for the removal of three man's was in 1987. It took almost a year before I could close my left eye. I still have facial palsy and no bearing that side plus other problems. I am sure surgery methods have improved now with less after effects and can only wish you well. Chin up!!

Hello.. Happy to hear your operation went well. Hoping you will be in full recovery soon. My Question is seeing that you had a large tumor what were your symptoms

Hi,

Thank you for your response. Before the operation I had no sensation on the affected side, I was losing my balance and my hearing was almost lost.
