Hi all, just wondering if anyone had facial neuralgia and tinnitus as symptoms of AN. Waiting for GP appointment. Thanks

My husband suffered from tinnitus before the surgery and was hoping that removal of AN would help this issue, but unfortunately, he still has it.

I have terrible tinnitus but it is better when I wear my hearing aid. I had Gamma Knife surgery 5 years ago. I don’t have facial neuralgia.

Facial neuralgia is not typically a symptom of an AN, but if the facial nerve is compressed by the AN it could have an effect. Where is the facial neuralgia located? Eyes, TMJ, etc.?

Tinnitus and balance problems are definite symptoms of an AN; do you have balance problems? If not, you may not have an AN.

Thank you for your reply. Don’t have any balance problems. Neuralgia from temple to ear on a daily basis and persistent clicking in ear. Wasn’t sure if it was relevant but just curious.

It seems like TMJ pain. It is usually effected by food allergies or stress. Try massaging the painful area by pressing against your skull in the temporal area and going down to your lower jaw. Do this until the pain subsides.

Hi, my wife’s AN caused facial palsy, suggest you keep a close eye on it. She has had gamma knife treatment for the AN also has had a facial nerve transfer to restore some movement to the facial nerve which has been overstreched by the position of the AN. On the road to recovery now but the effect compounds all the other side effects of an AN. Hope this helps, do not want to alarm anybody but is always better to talk

Hi Collie. Tinnitus in my left ear was definitely a symptom. I have had gamma knife last Friday in Paris when my acoustic neuroma had grown to 23mm. Everything ok so far
