Husbands AN

Hi, it's been 10 months since my husband had 95% of his AN removed. It was this time last year it was discovered and his 15 hour op was in Feb. He has the same symptoms as he did he's convinced it's grown. Bearing in mind his last scan results were 6 months ago this seems too quick. We are going Tuesday for his scan results from last month's scan I know it's only a few days to wait. However it's really upsetting to see him feeling the way he does. He has a cold like everyone else and I keep trying to explain it could be that but he's otherwise convinced. I'm just reaching out as his wife to see if anyone has any information good or bad to set my mind straight. When it comes to Jason and what he thinks I can't change. Thank you.

For AN patients, colds and other issues affecting the ear nose and throat areas tend to come with exaggerated symptoms (not unlike the darned thing regrowing) so it is almost certainly that which is causing your husband's issues. However, in the very unlikely event that it is a very early regrowth, you can (if you feel it appropriate) point out that this should be treatable by radio-surgery as it will still be relatively small so should cause him no significant recovery problems at all.

Hi there , everyone is different and no two outcomes are the same , historicaly An are slow growing and I’d would be surprised after 10 month it had progressed to a stage of it causing problems again, I had my first in 1988 undergoing an op for 18 hours , they left some in because of the location of the base of the tumour, it reoccurred to a size to warrant removal in approx 1995 and 2005 but is stable now at 15mmx12mm , I have regular scans to keep it checked about every 18 month , I felt that with every cold or illness of some sort that there was something seriously wrong, I get head pains , earache , sometimes vision disturbance a lot and it’s hard to tell yourself that’s it nothing to worry yourself about and I still do get the feelings of the original illness from time to time , but now I’ve learnt to accept these and try not not worry about them too much, it’s good that you go to get the results Tues , at least your not waiting along time, I would say that if there was something seriously wrong you would have heard by now , in my past experience, I’ve known on the day of the scan if there was trouble .

I hope you can get some understanding from my post , I wish you both really well and good luck for Tuesday , please keep me posted on how it’s going .
