My husband had his tumor removed May 2017. It was 3.5 cm and was calcified, so they had to remove his 7th and 8th nerve. Ever since the surgery he has had a really sensitive throat. Whenever he sings, talks a lot, or it gets really dusty he coughs and coughs and coughs. He says there is a tickling in the back of his throat and it’s dry and phlegmy.
Has anyone experienced this? Our doctors haven’t been able to give us an answer as to why this has happened or what we can do, if possible, to make it better.
Thanks.

I had my surgery Jan 2007 mine was 3cm i don't think they removed any nerves but that does'nt mean they were not damaged during the surgery. I have problems with my throat similar to your husbands i also have to keep swallowing as i have to much saliva as if my taste buds are working overtime.
I think this is something we will just have to live with.
Hello VMC, my surgery affected the 7th, 8th, and ninth nerves because I had three neuromas. It left me with facial palsy, no hearing and paralysed larynx, all on the left side. The surgery was 30 years ago by knife. Over the years I have learned to live with it. Initially when I swallowed if the food went down the left side I kept coughing till I ran out of oxygen and blacked out for a couple of minutes. Obviously I've had to concentrate on swallowing on the right side only. Surgery I'm sure has improved over the last 30 years so hopefully the effects your husband is suffering will gradually fade. Best wishes for the future. K
